What does SAIL I–II mean?

SAIL I–II describes operating scenarios with low to moderate ground risk (iGRC 1–3). Typical examples:

  • Extended inspections in a controlled environment
  • Standard ConOps without a full bowtie analysis
  • Operating authorisation from the LBA

  • 01Do I need a LUC for SAIL I–II?+

    As a rule no — a LUC typically becomes relevant from medium risk (SAIL III/IV). Individual permits are often sufficient.

  • 02How does SAIL II differ from SAIL IV?+

    SAIL II uses simplified evidence. From SAIL IV a full SORA with bowtie and Statement of Compliance is required.
